Dragonhawk Pro Tattoo Cartridges
Some cartridges are built to flex for marketing. Dragonhawk Pro is built to work. This is the orange and yellow box lineup that keeps it simple: sharp 304L stainless steel needles, a clean transparent tip, a full safety membrane, and a stabilizing design made to cut side-to-side play so your hand feels steadier on skin. It is a no-nonsense cartridge set you can stock for everyday studio flow: lining, shading, packing, blending, and fast walk-in flash days without fighting your setup.
What makes Dragonhawk Pro feel “easy” in the hand
- 304L stainless steel needles with machine polishing for a smooth, clean hit
- Long taper focus on many configs for crisp lines and softer skin impact
- Full inner safety membrane to block ink backflow into grips and machines
- Stabilizing mechanism designed to minimize needle play and keep tracking consistent
- Standard cartridge fit compatible with Cheyenne-type cartridge systems and most cartridge machines
Choose Your Cartridge Type
Round Liner (RL)
The clean-outline workhorse. Dragonhawk Pro RL runs from tiny groupings for detail up to bigger groupings for bold outlines. Many liners lean toward long taper around 5.0 mm, which helps the needle enter smoothly and keeps the line crisp without shredding the skin.
Best for
- Fine line and micro detail using smaller groupings and smaller diameters like 0.18 to 0.25 mm
- Script and lettering where you want controlled line weight and clean starts
- Traditional and bold outlines with larger groupings and standard 0.35 mm
Round Shader (RS)
The tight-space shader for smooth shading where a mag feels too wide. RS groupings are looser than liners and often pair well with a medium taper vibe for better ink deposit per pass.
Best for
- Soft shading in small areas like facial features, small motifs, tight gaps
- Pepper shading and whip shading where the dot spread stays even
- Small fills when you want control over saturation without grabbing a mag
Magnum (M) Straight
The coverage tool. Straight magnums are built for speed: big coverage, solid saturation, efficient shading passes. Dragonhawk Pro offers common mag sizes all the way into larger groupings so you can work faster on bigger pieces.
Best for
- Color packing and solid fills where you want fast saturation
- Large area shading for backgrounds and big gradients
- Bold blackwork sections where coverage and consistency matter
Round (Curved) Magnum (RM)
The smooth blender. Curved mags soften the edges of each pass because the needle row has a gentle arc, so the outer needles do not bite as hard. Bugpin curved mags in the 0.30 mm range are especially loved for soft build-up shading and clean transitions.
Best for
- Black and grey realism and portrait shading with smooth gradients
- Soft transitions and layered tones without harsh stop lines
- Color realism blending where you want controlled build-up
Needle Diameter and Taper
Diameter
- 0.35 mm for bold lines and strong packing
- 0.30 mm for balanced lining and smoother shading
- 0.25 mm and below for fine line, detail, and softer skin impact
Taper
Dragonhawk Pro leans long taper on many configurations, which is why it feels controlled and clean for fine line and black and grey. For packing-heavy work, many artists choose larger groupings and work methodically for saturation.
Mini Storytelling: How It Shows Up in a Real Session
You start a walk-in in Toronto, it is a clean outline with some soft shading. You load an RL, the line tracks without wobble, the tip stays clear, the membrane keeps your grip clean. Then the shading starts: an RS for tight spots, a curved mag for the gradients. Same box, same feel, same workflow. No switching your entire setup just to finish one tattoo.
Artist note
- For fine line, pair smaller diameters with smaller RL groupings and keep your hand speed consistent
- For black and grey, use RM for transitions and build tones in passes rather than trying to force saturation in one hit
- For color, straight mags in larger groupings help you pack faster and keep fills even
